3/24/15 Chillicothe 9, at Carrollton 0

Story by Coach Bob Long
The Chillicothe Hornets boys' tennis team (1-0) traveled to Carrollton on Tuesday. Led by seniors Gabe Poling and Garrett Peterson, Chillicothe won 9-0. The competition began with doubles and Gabe Poling pairing up with junior Lane Bonderer. The Hornet duo won 8-0 in the number one doubles spot versus Luke Jenkins and Mike Greer. With junior Nate McKiddy at FFA competition, juniors Brandon Lamp and Cody Evans defeated the Carrollton team of Noland Glenn and Luke Brownley, 8-0. Garrett Peterson and Steen Anthony made it a shut out in doubles winning 8-0 against Bryce Fitzpatrick and Payton Barry of Carrollton.
In singles action, Gabe showed little mercy on Luke Jenkins winning 8-0. Garrett Peterson and Brandon Lamp each won 8-0 over Mike Greer and Noland Glenn respectively. Cody Evans getting his first match in varsity singles
beat Bryce Fitzpatrick, 8-2. Lane Bonderer defeated Luke Brownly 8-0 and Steen Anthony beat Payton Barry 8-2.
I'm excited to begin the season. It looks to be a competitive season with seniors Gabe Poling and Garrett Peterson returning and with the group of talented juniors having a year of experience, led by Nate McKiddy and
Brandon Lamp. Cody Evans was able to win his singles match, showing patience against a consistent opponent. Steen Anthony continues to gain confidence in his improving ground strokes, happily playing in Nate's absence. The Hornets travel to Excelsior Springs Thursday.
