Hornets Tennis
4/21/15 Chillicothe 8, at Cameron 1

Story by Coach Bob Long
The Chillicothe Hornet Boys' tennis team (6-1) defeated the Cameron Dragons at Daryl Danner Memorial Park 8-1. Playing senior Gabe Poling for the second time this season Cameron's Arthur Muhl knew what he was up against. Losing 4-8 in the Cameron Invitational Muhl looked to improve on his previous result, but discovered Poling could play at a higher level. Gabe won 8-0. Senior Garrett Peterson defeated Daniel Rogers 8-1. Nate McKiddy beat Jeremy Whitaker 8-0 running his singles record to 5-1 on the season. Brandon Lamp suffered the lone Hornet defeat, losing to Gage Zeit 5-8. The duo battled back and forth, but in the end Zeit handled the blustery wind slightly better. Junior Cody Evans defeated Jake Findley 8-0. Lane Bonderer defeated David Curtis 8-4.
In doubles, with the match settled, the hornet number one team of Peterson and McKiddy wasted little time defeating Rogers and Whitaker 8-0. Cameron's Arthur Muhl wasn't able to escape Gabe Poling by slipping to the number two doubles spot. Muhl teamed up with Jake Findley and suffered another loss to Poling and junior doubles partner Lane Bonderer, with the Hornet pair winning 8-0. Brandon Lamp was able to find a little revenge in doubles, pairing up with Cody Evans to defeat Zeit and Curtis 8-3.
The Hornet team registered a quality win against a conference and district opponent. Poling, Peterson and McKiddy are all business. The three at the top of the lineup show very little mercy, to take even a game from them, must be earned. Brandon Lamp has been improving incredibly, his singles loss will motivate him even more. Confidence boosters for juniors Cody Evans and Lane Bonderer continuing into the conference season.
