For the final three quarters, Chillicothe beat Lafayette
13-12. Unfortunately a first quarter was also played that
Lafayette won 25-0.
The game started bad for Chillicothe and got
worse as the 1st quarter wore on. Lafayette's Chester Goudeau
took the opening kick off 97 yards for a touchdown.
Chillicothe ran three plays and had to punt. Then
things started getting really weird. Lafayette scored on a 73
yard drive. They kicked off just past the up men and in front
of the back row of players. The ball took a strange bounce and
Lafayette recovered. 4 plays and 23 yards later it was 19-0.
What worked once, worked a second time. 4 plays and 31
yards later it was 25-0
How about a third time? Chillicothe tried fielding the
next kick off but couldn't haul it in and Lafayette had the
ball once again, a 25-0 score and Chillicothe had run just
four plays including a punt.
After that, things started to settle down. Chillicothe
ended up with interceptions by DeEll Midgyett and Kyle Ross
while Lafayette had two fumble recoveries.
Chillicothe recovered from the difficult first quarter
to put some drives together that include scoring drives in the
2nd and 3rd quarters.
Chillicothe pulled starting Senior QB Jared Lauhoff in
the 2nd quarter in favor of Sophomore Cade Snyder, who ended
with 69 yards passing. DeEll Midgyett had 111 yards rushing
and Hayden Major became a favorite target with 4 catches for
61 yards.
Lafayette Star Quarterback Drew Cortez went 14/23-196
yards and 3 touchdowns before coming out in the 4th with a
slight limp. |
