Chillicothe 43, at Benton 37
<Game Pictures>
Chillicothe Senior Running Back DeEll Midgyett had 4
touchdowns and 168 yards rushing to help the Hornets beat
Benton in an offensive showdown 43-37. Midgyett's final score
came on a 1 yard run with 28 seconds left to give Chillicothe
the lead with Aaron Baker scoring the conversion. However, the
game wasn't over just yet.
Benton threw three incomplete passes but a
roughing the passer flag against Chillicothe gave Benton the
ball on the Hornets 35 yard line with no time left and a
chance to win on an un-timed down due to a defensive penalty
at the end of the game. The pass was complete but the receiver
was stopped inside the five yard line for the victory.
The first half was a contrast of offensive styles with
Chillicothe using long time consuming drives and Benton
scoring quickly. At one point in the early 2nd quarter,
Chillicothe had run 28 plays and Benton had run 7 but Benton
led 20-19.
Benton kicked a 34 yard field goal at the end of
regulation while the officials failed to hear Chillicothe's
screams for a time out.
Both teams played better defense in the third quarter
before Chillicothe went back to their explosive offense that
gave them 21 points in the 4th quarter.
Chillicothe rolled up 318 yard rushing and the Hornets
were 9 of 10 for 156 yards passing. |
