Chillicothe had their first taste of football against other teams Friday night in the annual pre-season Jamboree, this year held in Smithville under an occasional light rain. The Hornets, featuring a mixture of experience and youth, tied the Grain Valley Varsity, lost to the Richmond Varsity and beat Smithville in a Junior Varsity match up. Each team had 12 consecutive plays with drives starting 35 yards away from the goal line. There was no punting or kicking
     Grain Valley scored on a run on their 5th play out of 12 while Chillicothe scored with a DeEll Midgyett run on their 8th play for the tie.
     Against Richmond, the Spartans scored on a diving run on the 6th play and again on their final play. On defense, Richmond kept Chillicothe out of the end zone. Richmond and Chillicothe are in the same district this year.

    In the Junior Varsity scrimmage, the Hornets Zach Daley took it to the house on a 35 yard run on the first play, and Dean Adkins found the end zone on the 8th play. The JV Defense played well, keeping Smithville out of the end zone.
    In the other match ups, Smithville beat Richmond four touchdowns to one, Grain Valley beat Smithville one touchdown to none and the Richmond JV beat Grain Valley JV two touchdowns to none.
