Story by Coach Bob Long
The Chillicothe Lady Hornets hosted nine schools at the
Green Hills Golf Course in the Chillicothe Invitational Golf
Tournament on Thursday. The Hornets finished fourth in the ten team
event, with a score of 394. Kirksville took top team honors with a
329.
Senior Hannah Leamer tied for ninth with a round of 90.
Her best score of the season and her third tournament medal in the
last three tournaments. Hannah pared four of the holes and is
playing her best golf as we enter conference and district play.
Emily VanRie of Kirksville took individual medalist honors with a
round of 77.
Grace Venner turned in Chillicothe's second
lowest score, 100. Grace pared holes 6, 11, and 14 on her way to
shooting an even 50 on both sides of the course.
Senior Kaylee Thieme shot a round of 102. Kaylee has
been working hard on eliminating poor holes and was able to shoot a
round without any scores of double par.
Senior Morgan Dowell shot a 102, making a birdie on
hole number 2 and par on holes 5, 8 and 16. Lauren Mason completed
the Hornet team with a round of 113.
The team celebrated the seniors, Hannah Leamer, Kaylee
Thieme, and Morgan Dowell. District play will be their final home
event on September 29. Former and retired Coach Vickie Garrett
attended the tournament and congratulated the girls' on a good
performance and successful high school careers.
The team continues to improve. In sports and especially
Golf, everyday isn't going to be your best performance. With
conference play on Monday and district play the following Monday,
were looking to play our best of the season and for the seniors,
their high school best.
I want to thank Craig Sager and his crew at Green
Hills for supporting the Hornets and having the course in great
condition. |
