Story by Coach Bob Long
The Chillicothe Lady Hornet Golf team hosted the
district golf meet at Green Hills Golf course Monday. Chillicothe
place third in the eleven team event with a score of 398. Kirksville
took first place, 336, and Brookfield placed second with a score of
370.
Hannah Leamer, finishing seventh, and Morgan Dowell,
fourteenth, are "all district" competitors. Serena Berrey of
Kirksville, shot a round of 75, to take medalist honors. Senior
Hannah Leamer recorded a round of 88. Hannah pared six holes and
added a birdie on the par 4 fourteenth.
Senior Morgan Dowell had a round of 101. Morgan hit a
terrific drive on the par 5 twelfth, and was inches away from par.
She did manage to par holes three and seven, also par 5's. Senior
Kaylee Thieme finished seventeenth with a score of 104. Kaylee
played a consistent round and stayed out of the hazards. Grace
Venner shot 105, including a birdie on the eighth hole.
Lauren Mason completed the Hornet squad with a
131. Hannah, Morgan, Kaylee, and Grace qualify to attend sectionals
Monday, at Mozingo golf course in Maryville. Although the Hornets
didn't get the automatic team invitation with a first or second
place finish, since four girls qualified as individuals, they will
also be competing as a four player team. Hannah and Morgan continue
to have dependable scores. Kaylee and Grace are peeking at the
appropriate time.
Junior Lauren Mason has had a terrific season which has
included several good scores and countless amazing shots. I look
forward to seeing her game progress next fall.
I wish to thank the numerous volunteers that made the
event happen. Markers, starters, score keepers, and rules officials
were all sincerely appreciated. Special thanks to Russ Madsen, rules
official, and Craig Sager (and his crew), course manager. |
