Lady
Hornets Head Coach Ed Douglas says: The Lady Hornets improved
to 11-1 and 5-0 in the MEC Conference Monday at Danner on
Senior Night with a convincing 9-0 win against LeBlond.
With this win and one match left in the Conference we
are assured of at least a tie in the Conference since everyone
else has lost at least one match. We hope to win it outright
again this year with a win a Maryville next week.
LeBlond was only able to bring 6 players because of
insurance reasons they can‘t take a large van. Therefore there
was no JV match. The Hornets have another packed week with a
match Tuesday against Kansas City Barstow, last year’s State
Champions on the road. Wednesday is the Excelsior Springs all
day tournament at Excelsior followed by an away match at
Trenton Thursday.
The Juniors on the team with spokesperson Kelly
Westphal presented before the match the four graduating
Seniors with gifts from the Juniors. Coach Douglas had this to
say about Seniors Sydnie Whiteside, Ali Stephens, Jozie Reeter
and Chelsea Long .
I can’t imagine a better group of seniors. These
four gals have outstanding character and are very likeable and
enjoyable, as well as being talented in so many school
activities in addition to be really outstanding tennis
players. I am amazed at all they have accomplished and
extremely proud of them and consider myself very fortunate to
have been able to be their coach. Our underclass could not do
better than to try to emulate these Seniors.
