Coach Ed
Douglas Says:
Because of the tournament being
rained out Wednesday and rescheduled for Friday, in order to
let players have a chance to return home in time for football
games, first two championship rounds (first to 8 games won)
and all consolation bracket matches (first to six games won)
were single set as well as third place matches.
To make sure the singles
championship match would not go on interminably, the
independent tournament manager decreed before the match that,
if the first two sets were split, rather than a full third
set, the players would compete in an 18-points (first to win
10 points with a lead of at least two points0 tiebreaker. The
same was done for the doubles championship.
