Story by Coach Bob Long
The Chillicothe Hornets Girls' Golf team (1-1) opened
their 2015 season atRiverside Country Club in Trenton. Trenton won the
three team competition with a score of 197. Chillicothe carded a 213 and
Putnam County finished
with 228. Hornet Lauren Mason finished in a four way tie for medalist with
a score of 49. The long hitting senior played the par three's well.
Scoring par on number 3 and hitting her tee shot
on number 6 over the water and rolling by the pin. Trenton's Karly
McCollum, Lana Raymo, and Jordain Oshel also scored 49. Close behind was
Chillicothe's Grace Venner with a
score of 50. The consistent senior hit the ball as good as anyone and is
in mid-season form already. The number three player on the Hornet squad,
Hannah Sherrow, shot a 53 in her first varsity match. Hannah remained
focused throughout the pressure and recorded her best round to date.
Freshmen Lexi Hargrave and Lauren Price began their
high school career with scores of 61 and 64 respectively. The freshman
received valuable experience and will be quality players this year and for
the next three years.
Chillicothe remains solid at the top with Lauren Mason,
Grace Venner and varsity newcomer Hannah Sherrow. It was exciting to see
the first time competitors in action. They will continue to improve this
season and after
four upcoming years of what I'm sure will be a tremendous high school
career, they will look back at this meet as the beginning.
The Hornets travel to Cameron on Tuesday, September 1
to play Cameron, Lafayette, and Benton. |
