Chillicothe Lady Hornet soccer team won its second match in as many days with a 2-0 home victory over St. Joe Lafayette. The Hornets scored their first goal 22 minutes into the first half when Josefin Hjelmaeng sent a corner kick in that found the foot of freshman defender Kennedie Kieffer who redirected the cross past the Irish goalkeeper. Chillicothe had several other scoring opportunities but were forced into halftime with just a 1-0 lead. In the second half the Hornets sent several shots toward the Lafayette goal but were unable to score until Hjelmaeng sent in another corner kick, this time connecting with the head of freshman forward Maggie Pfaff and into the back of the net. Coach Lance Harvey praised the methodical passing of the midfield and forwards for creating scoring chances and also recognized the strong play of the defense in holding Lafayette to just two shots on goal, helping goalkeeper Jaylene Sturguess record the shutout.
