Marshall Shuts Down Lady Hornets Tennis

The Chillicothe Lady Hornets Tennis
team ran into a buzz saw by the name of the Marshall Lady Owls, falling to
the perennial powerhouse 9 to 0 at the Danner Park Courts.
Lady Hornets coach Amanda Marsh called it a learning
experience for her team.
"I have recently read a quote on pinterest saying that
you don't lose in tennis, but you do research. We definitely researched
the game of tennis Thursday. Marshall beat us last year and returned 5 of
their 6 varsity players this year. That makes them a very hard team to
beat. We learned a lot through out the match. It gave our younger players
a chance to see how an opponent may figure out your weakness and then
capitalize on it the whole match. It also showed the girls how strategy
and placement of the ball is so important. We learned a lot and were
humbled. Coming off of a 9-0 victory from Cameron to losing 0-9 to
Marshall brought out heads back down out of the clouds and we are going to
work hard in practice on Friday to prepare for Trenton. The Marshall match
was good to show us that we can't let up, we have to work hard at all
times and continue to improve. I am not disappointed in the outcome
because we lost to a better team. My girls gave a great effort and that's
the most important thing to me." |
