Lady Hornets Tennis nips Trenton
8/31/2015 Chillicothe 6, at Trenton 3
Coach Amanda Marsh comments:
"I'm very glad we got the win. It was a hard fought
battle. Trenton has some young competitors and I look for them to be a
strong team in our district. Madison Gipe's singles match was a huge win
for us. We thought that we may be heading into doubles tied at 3 and her
"never quit" attitude paid off greatly as she won in a tie breaker,
allowing us to go into the doubles with a 4-2 lead.
"We switched our doubles teams around by having #1
Kelly play with #4 Gracy at 1 doubles and #2 Renee and #3 Julia play 2
doubles. Splitting Kelly and Renee gives us a good chance of winning both
doubles as well as helps the younger players to work with an experienced
doubles player. Kelly and Renee know the importance of communication and
strategy in doubles and are teaching Julia and Gracy by their example.
There are improvements to be made, but it was an important win for us and
I'm proud of our team. " |
