The Chillicothe Boys' tennis team (1-0) opened their
season at home against the Carrollton Trojans. The Hornets won
5-4 in a closely contested match. Junior Tyler Maasdam
finished the 2017 season with a team best 19-7 singles record
moved up to the number one position. Despite all of his
efforts, he came up short in singles and doubles. The rest of
the Hornets experienced their first varsity competition.
Sophomores Grahm Mayers and Brenden Nelson fought back from a
3-6 deficit to win their doubles match 9-7. Brenden was also
able to take control of his singles match, winning 8-1. First
year players, Junior Matt Callen and Senior Gunnar Young won
their doubles match and both of their doubles matches. The
Hornets host the Excelsior Springs Dragons on Thursday, March
22.
