Coach Bob Long Says:
The Chillicothe Hornets boys' tennis team (2-6)
lost 3-6 to the Savannah Savages at Daryl Danner Memorial Park
Thursday. Juniors Tyler Maasdam and Seth Bayte pulled away in
a close doubles match for the 8-5 win. Junior Matt Callen and
senior Gunnar Young fell behind early 4-7, but was able to
bring the match back to a 7-7 tie. The final game had several
deuce points, but the Savannah duo eventually won out 9-7.
Sophomores Grahm Mayers and Noah Crowe continue to find
varsity singles play extremely tough. Junior Seth Bayte was
able to complete his evening undefeated with an 8-4 win.
Junior Hornet number one Tyler Maasdam won his third singles
dual match in a row. Tyler never trailed against the talented
Tage Young, and after Young tied it up at 4-4, Tyler won three
in a row for a 7-4 lead. Tyler continues to improve and is
competitive with the best players in the conference.
