It was a tail
of two halves for the Chillicothe Hornets in a 14-7 win at
Smithville. Chillicothe found it difficult to move the ball on
offense and difficult at times to stop the Smithville running game.
The Hornets were out gained in rushing in the first half 133 yards
rushing for Smithville and only 44 for Chillicothe.
Smithville took advantage of their offensive
ability by scoring a 9 yard pass to end a 16 play 97 yard drive late
in the first half.
Chillicothe made some adjustments on both sides of the ball to out
rush Smithville 118 yards to 35 yards. The Hornets scored on a Josh
Kille 3 yard run in the 3rd to end a 60 yard drive, then scored on a
Kille 5 yard run with 20 seconds left in the game.
Smithville tried a passing attack in the final
seconds but were unable to make completions.
With the Chillicothe victory, the Hornets,
Smithville and Lafayette are all tied at the top of the conference
standings with 1 loss.
