The Chillicothe Lady Hornets went 1 and 1 at the Mexico Tournament. The Lady Hornets beat Mexico 2 to 1. Chillicothe was active with 15 shots on goal and six corner kicks compared to Mexico's three shots on goal.
The Lady Hornets went to work early with three shots on goal in the first six minutes, but none found the net. Mexico scored first, finding the net in the 21st minute.
Chillicothe tied the score early in the second half when Bianca Clark found the net. Alice Hurtgen netted the winning goal a few minutes later. Hurtgen and Jessica Reeter each took six shots, Avery Baxter took three, Madison Albaugh, Hayden Hansen, Rylee Washburn each had two shots and Bianca Clark had 1.
Coach Jimmy Chapman said: "First game of the year, made a mistake on their goal, but did well to correct it and were able to come back and win a match for the first time in at least 4 or 5 seasons, if not longer. The girls showed a lot of heart and determination. Proud of the way so many of them moved around and were able to play different positions, as well as the younger players who stepped up when we needed them to and contribute when maybe the plan wasn't for them to be playing this much this early. Good team win and valuable experience for the players that were there."

In the second game, Battle of  Columbia picked up a 5 to 1 win over the Lady Hornets. Battle had 19 shots compared to Chillicothe's six.
Battle scored first, just 1:32 into the game for a quick 1-0 lead. They scored twice more for a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Chillicothe responded early in the second half with an Alice Hurtgen goal off a Rylee Washburn assist. Battle responded with two quick goals 12 minutes later to  finish the scoring.
Lady Hornets goalie Hadley Beemer had 14 saves in the game.
Coach Chapman commented: "The score line doesn't accurately show how the game went. We made some mistakes that were capitalized on, and we had a lot of great opportunities, just weren't able to convert them. Same things as the first game, proud of how hard we played and different girls playing different roles throughout the game and doing well. We had a lot of the ball, and were able to move the ball well, just lacking some chemistry up top that will come with more game time. Things to build on that looked good and things to improve on. The best thing about these games is the mistakes are fixable and were things we just hadn't really worked on yet, as well as having to adjust to not having everyone available everyday at practice and four games cancelled leading up to it. If the season is a staircase, we took a couple big steps up this weekend.
