. The
top seed Chillicothe Lady Hornets advanced to the District
Championship game with a 9-3 win over Richmond at Heritage
Park in St Joseph.
The Lady Spartans scored one in the top of the first
but Chillicothe put on a show in the bottom of the third with
a Kerstin Dunn Home Run with no one on base. Hope Helton
followed up with a single to left field. Kinlei Boley reached
on an error by the Richmond shortstop. After a pop fly for
the second out, Bre Pithan singled to left field to score one,
Lainie Epperson followed that with a pop fly to shortstop that
scored one.and Hadley Beemer doubled to score one for the
four-run inning.
The Lady Hornets continued their hit parade
in the fourth with a lead off single from Tori Stoner followed
by a triple from Kerstin Dunn. Kinlei Boley singled to second
base to score Dunn and a 6-1 lead.
Richmond managed a home run to center field in
the fifth inning and followed that with three singles for their
second run of the inning.
Chillicothe countered with a lead off walk from
Hadley Beemer, Fleener reached on a ground ball error folowed
by a Stoner single to load the bases with no outs. After a
strike out, Helton flied ito a double play but Beemer managed
to score after Hansen was out advancing to home.
The Lady Hornets wrapped up the scoring with a lead off
double in the sixth by Boley, a Bonderer single and after two
outs, Beemer singled to score Boley.
At the plate Dunn went three for four and was only
a double away from hitting for the cycle. Beemer and Boley both
had a double and a single with singes from Helton, Pithan and
Epperson
Boley picked up the win in the circle, going the full
seven innings. She allowed 3 runs off 9 hits with two earned
runs, seven strike outs and just one walk. She three 11
pitches with 83 of them strikes. |
