State Championship Game

. The bats were
hot for both teams in the 2022 Class 3 MSHSAA Softball
Championship game,
Chillicothe had a 13-1 lead after two innings but couldn't
hold it.
Both teams scored three runs in the first inning.
Fatima had one in the 2nd, but Chillicothe got hot in the
bottom of the second with a 10-run inning.
In the bottom of the first Dunn led off with a walk,
Helton tripled to bring Dunn home,. Boley reached on an error
and Pithan doubled to score Helton and Boley.
Fatima homered in the second, but Chillicothe had the hot
bats in the bottom of the second. They started with a lead off
double from Epperson, a sac bunt from Stoner, A single from
Dunn to score Epperson, a Helton single scored Dunn. Boley
then line drives for a double, Pithan bunts into a
fielder's chose to make the score 6-4.
Bonderer singles on a ground gall to score Pithan and Boley.
Beemer walked, Stretch walked to load the bases then Epperson
walks to score one.
Ater an out, Dunn singled to center field to score
three. A walk and a single made the score 13-4 after two
innings.
Fatima responded with a six run sixth inning to make it a
13-10 score, The uses a back to back doubles, singe, anther
double, a walk, yet another double and a single to get back
into the game,
In the to of the fifth, Fatima walked, doubled, had a sac fly
to score one then had a singe to score another.
In the sixth inning after a pop out and strike out, Fatima
singed and K Woody blasted one to left field to take the lead.
Chillicothe tied the game in the bottom of the Seventh
with a lead off single by Bonderer, a Beemer sac bun, a
Stretch single and a fly ball to center field by Epperson to
tie the game. and send it to extra innings.
In the Eighth Fatima popped out, singled, popped
out again, had an intentional walk then had an RBI single on a
hard ground ball to left field. They scored again on a hard
ground ball to center field for the 16-14 score.
Int he bottom of the 8th, Chillicothe had a lead
off single from Helton, then a fly out, strike out and pop
out to end the state championship game. |
