Story by Coach Grable
The Chillicothe Lady Hornets took the field again on Wednesday night at Jerry Litton Memorial Stadium. The Lady Savages of Savannah came to town in a MEC Conference matchup.
The Lady Savages would put the pressure on Chillicothe early and would be able to capitalize on a scoring opportunity in the 12th minute to put Savannah up 1-0. Some back and forth play took place from that point, but Savannah was the one able to capitalize on the opportunities netting 2 more goals in the first half to take a 3-0 intermission lead.
In the second half, Chillicothe came out with more energy and organization. While giving up a goal to make it 4-0 early in the 2nd half, Chillicothe was able to mount pressure on the Lady Savage defense creating multiple opportunities. In the 68th minute Sophie Hurtgen was able to steal a pass and turn it into a goal to cut the lead to 4-1. Some hit posts and missed opportunities by the Lady Hornets made the game exciting. But in the end, Savannah was able to win 4-1. Layla McKinnis was in goal for the Hornets and had 4 saves on the night in another solid outing.
