Macon had four players in double figures to beat Chillicothe
71-62 in the Hornets home gym. Macon hit a trey to start the
game and never trailed. Chillicothe tied the game twice in the
first quarter but gave up back to back buckets at the end of
the quarter.
The Macon's Cody Tate hit a trey to start the second
quarter and give his team a 10 point lead from which
Chillicothe could not recover. Four different Macon players
hit a total of nine treys in the game. Chillicothe whittled a
14 point 2nd quarter defecit down to just three points at the
end of the third, but an eight-point run by Macon was too much
to overcome for the Hornets.
Macon's 6'7" Robert Freeman sat much of the first three
quarter in foul trouble and just three points, but came alive
in the 4th to hit 9 points. Macon also hit 8 of 14 free throws
in the final quarter.
The Hornet's senior go-to guard Bryce Young lit up
Macon for 31 points, putting him over the 1,000 career point
mark. Young, also an all-state football player, is just the
7th player in Hornets Basketball history to break the 1,000
point mark in a career. Young has 81 points in his first three
games of the season.
