Kearney played a near perfect opening 90 seconds and
went on to beat Chillicothe 62 - 41 in the opening round of
the Kearney Girls Tournament. The lady Bulldogs went 5 for 5
for 13 points in the opening 90 seconds of the game, sinking
three straight treys followed by two straight field goals
before Chillicothe could get on the board.
Following a time out, Chillicothe settled down and
closed the game to just five points by the end of the first
quarter. However, Chillicothe would not get any closer the
rest of the game.
Kearney used hot outside shooting on offense and huge
height inside on defense that hurt Chillicothe's inside game.
Kearney's 6-4 freshman Taylor Doan and 6 foot junior Sarah
Schroeder only accounted for two and five points respectively
on offense, but had numerous blocked shots on defense.
Kearney took a double digit lead late in the second
quarter and led by double figures the rest of the game.
