Raymore-Peculiar shot nearly twice as many field goals
at Chillicothe and beat the Lady Hornets 59-52 in the
consolation game of the Kearney Tournament.
Chillicothe started strong, building an 11 point lead
late in the first quarter. However, Raymore-Peculiar hit a
bucket to end the 1st quarter, which started a 14-1 run. The
Lady Hornets would only lead one more time in the game,
briefly late in the third quarter.
The Lady Hornets fell into turn-over problems with 28
turnovers for the game, many in the second half that went for
easy fast-break lay-ups. Ray-Pec's lone senior Rob McGowin
stayed active, shooting 10 of 28 from the floor including 0/2
from outside. She had several mid-court steals and lay-ups in
the second half.
Chillicothe stayed with-in single digits the entire
game, and tied the game up again to start the fourth quarter,
but again Ray-Pec went on a 10-1 run, taking Chillicothe out
of the game.
Ray-Pec went 25 of 69 from two point range and missed
all four of their three point attempts.
Chillicothe starting point guard Erin Gilliland came
out of the game after the 1st quarter with a sore shoulder and
did not return.
