The
Chillicothe Lady Hornets played a spectacular first quarter,
scoring the first seven points of their district semifinal
game against Benton. Unfortunately, it went down hill from
there in a 59-31 Benton win over Chillicothe.
The Lady Hornets hit a shot to build a 6 point lead
with just over a minute left in the 1st quarter. It would be
the last field goal for Chillicothe until the third quarter, a
span of more than 9 minutes.
Benton hit a trey to end the first quarter that sparked
a 14-0 run. The Lady Cardinals took the lead with 4:41 left in
the 2nd and led the rest of the game. Chillicothe's only point
in the second quarter came on a Maggie Graves free throw with
2:26 left in the half. Chillicothe hit a basket to start the
third and close it to 7, but Benton would go on an 18 -0 run
in the third and fourth quarters to secure the win. Benton
outscored Chillicothe 48-17 in the final three quarters.
